Source Standard

Frequently asked questions.

Understand membership, independent testing and the information in each company profile.

21 questions
What is Source Standard?

Source Standard helps you check vendor participation and explore independent test results in one place. We organize identity and analytical purity testing of independently purchased research products. Company profiles show verification status and published sample findings separately.

Does a directory listing mean membership?

No. A listing is public organization information. Membership requires a separate enrollment decision and signed participation requirements. An unverified listing is not a quality or compliance judgment.

Does membership mean the vendor has already been tested?

No. A member may not have published test results. Read the testing history for actual completed published events, the sample and lot, findings, and report.

Can a vendor send a selected sample instead?

Vendor-selected or handpicked samples do not satisfy routine surveillance. Source Standard purchases the selected product through regular website orders without advance notice.

Why isn’t a COA enough by itself?

A genuine laboratory report can describe an outdated lot or a seller-selected sample without representing every item shipped. A forged report is a different problem: false evidence. Neither should be assumed without evidence. Independent purchasing adds sample evidence from the regular website order.

Does identity and purity testing certify human-use safety?

No. These limited analytical findings do not establish human- or animal-use safety, clinical suitability, regulatory approval, or the quality of untested products. Routine testing does not assess heavy metals, residual solvents, sterility, endotoxins, or labeled peptide quantity.

What happens after a failed or inconclusive result?

The program commits to publishing completed failed and inconclusive findings with their limitations and documented follow-up. Review can lead to membership being Under review, Suspended, or Removed. Corrections and confirmatory work supplement the history. Read the published method, findings, limitations, and documented follow-up.

How do I join, suggest a company, or request a correction?

Use Join for a preliminary company introduction. Contact Source Standard to suggest a listing. Report a concern or correction with the profile link and supporting public evidence. The inquiry forms prepare an email for you to send; they do not transmit it automatically.

Is Source Standard a seller?

No. Source Standard does not sell or distribute peptides. Consumers buy from vendors. Source Standard independently acquires selected samples for its surveillance program. Any future commercial services remain separate from test interpretation and membership decisions.

What does Verified mean?

Verified means the vendor meets Source Standard enrollment requirements and commits to annual independent identity and purity testing. It does not require prior random selection or imply all products or batches passed. Actual sample findings appear inside the company profile.

When is each participating vendor tested?

One independent event is due within 12 months of enrollment, then in each subsequent 12-month membership year. One product is randomly selected and purchased without advance notice. Testing is not required immediately on signup and does not occur on one shared calendar-year date.

Who chooses and purchases the sample?

Source Standard randomly selects the product and buys through the vendor’s regular website. Vendor-supplied handpicked vials do not satisfy routine surveillance.

What does routine testing assess?

Identity and analytical purity, using methods suitable for the compound and format. Heavy metals, residual solvents, sterility, endotoxins, and labeled peptide quantity are not assessed. Read the reported method and scope for each sample.

Does a finding apply to every product or lot?

No. It applies only to the analyzed sample and identified lot. Membership and testing do not establish safety for human or animal use or regulatory approval.

Is a passing test required before every vendor can join?

No. Activation requires the enrollment review and signed participation requirements. Membership and testing remain separate. The profile clearly identifies when no test results have been published.

Does enrollment require a Greenlisted manufacturer?

No. Manufacturer Greenlisting is a future program. Confidential sourcing information is reviewed separately.

Are failed and inconclusive findings published?

Yes. Completed findings include failed and inconclusive outcomes, with accurate interpretation and documented follow-up. Corrections and confirmations supplement the history instead of erasing unfavorable evidence.

Can payment guarantee a result or exemption?

No. Fees cannot buy favorable findings, suppressed reports, or exemption from selection and enforcement. Membership can be Under review, Suspended, or Removed.

Are supplier identities and invoices public?

No. Confidential supplier identities, contacts, invoices, and sourcing relationships remain restricted. Public reports identify redactions; original reports are private.

Has 503A and 503B verification launched?

No. Provider verification is coming soon. Existing listings are informational. Clinical forms accept directory inquiries or interest in the future program, not active verification enrollment.

Does listing a clinic or pharmacy prove regulatory approval?

No. Clinic, 503A pharmacy, and 503B outsourcing-facility listings are separate public information categories. They do not establish licensure, FDA approval, clinical suitability, or Source Standard testing. Consult authoritative regulatory sources.
